Welcome to Halls Gap
Set amongst the majestic Grampians and backing onto wetlands teeming with Australian wildlife, the Halls Gap Motel offers a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and tranquillity.
From kangaroos to emus, the natural surroundings make it a wildlife lover’s dream!
Located in the heart of Halls Gap, it’s an easy stroll into the village centre from the motel to pick up supplies. Once you check in though, you’ll simply want to relax in the spacious grounds, soaking in the spectacular mountain views that surround you.
Whether you’re after a peaceful retreat or a base to explore the Grampians, this cosy spot offers a quiet escape while keeping you close to all the best attractions the region has to offer.
Our stay started with a warm welcome from the incredibly friendly man at reception, who provided us with maps and tips on local eateries and things to see.
What are we waiting for? Let’s check it out!
Let's Explore The Room
The motel is clean and modern. We were booked into the “Kangaroo” Unit Number 10, which was the last one in the row and gave us some extra privacy with the mountains as our backdrop.
Secure parking is available right outside your door, which makes for an easy set up! You can sit on the little outdoor seats and gaze at your Suzuki Swift til your heart’s content!
Inside the room, you’re greeted by a lovely (non-sentient) kitchenette, complete with complimentary liqueur chocolates and a basket with mugs and glasses! Cute!
The room comes equipped with a microwave, mini-fridge, Nespresso machine, and all the tea and coffee fixings you could want. We also appreciated the free Wi-Fi, which was easy to access and worked well enough for us to stream YouTube without any trouble – just like royalty.
I particularly enjoyed the cozy little seating area with a two-seater couch (a great snoop spot) and a cool wooden table—decorated with a plant and coasters. The art on the walls featured some familiar bird designs that we’d been spotting at various stops during our trip.
The bathroom has a modern design with a waterfall shower – a great way to wind down after a day of exploring. Also, you can toilet as much as you want in your own private toilet! This is the stuff science fiction writers only dreamt of!
After settling in, you can take your books down to the motel’s outdoor seating area, where comfy outdoor furniture awaits your reader behind. Sit and watch kangaroos bounce around while birds—emus, herons, and rosellas—fly by! You’ll have a peaceful hour in the afternoon, breathing in some good oxygen.
There’s a tasty Indian restaurant only 5 minutes walk from the Motel – Spirit of Punjab – that ticks all the right boxes for a easy and delicious dinner!
Did We Enjoy Our Stay?
Our stay at the Halls Gap Motel was a dream – and we’ll definitely be return visitors when we’re in Victoria again.
The king-sized bed was super cozy, and we slept like well-fed kangaroos (I assume they sleep well, and feast on Indian food).
The wildlife right outside our door, the peaceful mountain view, and the friendly atmosphere made it feel more like a peaceful retreat than just a stopover. If you’re a nature lover, this spot is hard to beat!
The wildlife is definitely the big selling point – kangaroos and emus came up for a sticky beak in the evenings, making for an unforgettable experience. When conditions are right, the Hotel will also set up a fire pit in the evening – which is a magical touch. This peaceful location, combined with the natural beauty around it, made for a serene start to our time in Halls Gap.
We really enjoyed our night at the Halls Gap Motel, and know you will too.
Relaxing surrounds, friendly staff and plenty to see and do around Halls Gap and the Grampians.
Get to it!
A Little Something For The Readers
When we go away, we always take a few books with us so that we’ve got something on hand to read 🙂
When staying in such a picturesque spot, we’d recommend packing some great Aussie crime reads to help while away the afternoon.
