IN THIS POST

The Swimmsons

Meet the Swimmsons!

Character Bio:

Pickering and Mackeroy, the dapper duo known as The Swimmsons, have always believed that no body of water is too big and no challenge too great … until now.

When a boastful pelican called Juggling Jim dares them to swim their way around Australia, the Swimmsons paddle headfirst into ultimate adventure.

From dodging croc-infested rivers in the Top End to braving the choppy seas of the Great Australian Bight, their journey is anything but smooth sailing.

Along the way, they must outswim territorial surf lifesaving seagulls, navigate a floating maze of jellyfish, and figure out how to hitch a ride across the Nullarbor when they hit their first dry spell.

Can the Swimmsons make it all the way around, or will they be all washed up before the finish line?

Little Kylie

Meet Little Kylie!

Character Bio:

Little Kylie may be small, but her dreams are as big as the paddock she calls home.

With a chest as bare as a plucked corn cob and a determination as strong as a rooster’s morning yodel, she’s on a mission to make it to the far side of the farmyard.

Why? She’s not quite sure – but beak to sun, she’ll get there.

With twelve older, fluffier chickens standing between her and her goal, she’ll have to win them over one by one.

From the grumpy hen who won’t budge without a worm bribe, to the wise old rooster who demands a story in exchange for safe passage – Kylie’s journey will test her courage, charm, and every peeping ounce of persuasion she can muster.

Will she make it, or is she destined to stay a chilly chick forever?

Greg the Ghost Grape

Meet Greg the Ghost Grape!

Character Bio:

Greg the Ghost Grape isn’t just a wistful whisper on the wind – he’s a spirited soul with a passion for good company and even better wine.

By moonlight, he drifts between barrels and trellises, offering unsolicited (but always impeccable) advice to those who’ll listen.

Some say Greg is searching for the perfect vintage to impress a long-lost love, while others insist he simply enjoys the merriment of a well-poured glass.

A lot of other people wonder why he likes wine so much, when it’s made out of grapes like himself.

Either way, if your wine tastes a little richer as you sit near a cellar door, or your laughter lingers a little longer over your second glass – you just might have been blessed by Greg’s ghostly cheer.

“A toast! A toast! To the finest of vines and the grandest of times!”.

Postman Cat

Who did we sketch?:

Meet Postman Cat!

Character Bio:

Postman Cat has never trusted the ground. Too many paws, too many surprises, too much unpredictability.

Instead, he’s mastered the art of rooftop routes, fence-hopping shortcuts, and the occasional tightrope act along washing lines.

The townsfolk admire his agility, but whispers abound – what made him so afraid of the ground?

When a curious dachshund named Uno starts leaving letters at the base of his favourite fence post, Postman Cat is torn.

Does he dare step down to retrieve them? Or will Uno have to find a way to bring the ground up to him?

Also, who taught Uno how to write and how is it practically possible with paws?

Lizard Maguire

Meet Lizard Maguire!

Character Bio:

Lizard Maguire has always had an eye for fire.

As the town’s trusted fire squire, he can read the past, present, and future in the flickering embers of a campfire.

Travellers come from far and wide to hear their fate, and his visions have never been wrong … except, perhaps, when it comes to himself.

Maguire’s best friend, Emberline, has been by his side through every blaze and burn, but somehow, he fails to see the warmest glow of all – the one sparking between them.

Will he ever realise that some fires don’t need reading … just feeling?

And also fuel, heat and oxygen.

Neil's Water Taxi

Who did we sketch?:

Meet Neil’s Water Taxi!

Character Bio:

Neil’s Water Taxi started as a simple favour – one tired fish too sluggish to swim, one helpful crane with a sturdy beak.

But word spread fast, and now Neil is running the busiest (and only) water taxi service on the river.

From sunrise to sunset, he ferries fish across, their bellies full and their gratitude endless.

The locals marvel at his work ethic, and even the grumpiest turtles admit he’s revolutionised river travel.

But as the fish grow fatter and his beak grows weary, Neil starts to wonder … is it time to expand? Maybe hire a heron?

Or will he have to make one final, daring fare across the widest part of the river to prove he’s still the best beak in the business?

Reading Again

Who did we sketch?:

Meet ‘Reading Again’!

Character Bio:

That’s just … her. Reading Again.

No one quite remembers when she first arrived.

She drifts from house to house, always unnoticed until someone enters a room and finds her curled up in an armchair, nose deep in a book that doesn’t belong to her.

Mystery novels, mostly – dog-eared pages, spines well-worn, pulp covers.

She never explains how she got in, and oddly, no one ever asks.

Maybe it’s the quiet way she flips the pages, or the air of knowing something they don’t.

Perhaps its all a fiction that’s best left unread.
