“Art, in itself, is an attempt to bring order out of chaos.”
– Stephen Sondheim
A ‘Sketch a Day’ art challenge isn’t about perfection.
When you sit down with a pen or a brush in hand, and let your imagination take you on an artistic journey – you’ll be surprised what you can create.
Don’t let the fear of ‘what to draw’ stop you from starting.
Inspiration is all around you! Draw your hand, your favourite actor, a mouse riding a beetle – anything goes!
You can do it!
In this post, I’ll take you on a tour of what I sketched in April.
We’ll have fun with continuous line art, meet some celebrity doppelgängers, confirm the existence of the Easter Bunny, accuse Mr Tumnus of theft – and generally have a good time with gouache paint.
Art is the thing. Do the art.
If you need an extra boost on your art challenge, or are looking for some technical tips – check out:
the wonderful Koosje Koene – an artist and teacher from the Netherlands, who never fails to inspire.
the amazing James Gurney – Author/Artist of ‘Dinotopia’, and a fantastic outdoor sketcher.
the super cosy Randi Lynn Reed – an artist based in Portland, inspired by wildlife and landscapes.
