Sketch a Day – April Art Challenge

“Art, in itself, is an attempt to bring order out of chaos.”

– Stephen Sondheim

A ‘Sketch a Day’ art challenge isn’t about perfection.

When you sit down with a pen or a brush in hand, and let your imagination take you on an artistic journey – you’ll be surprised what you can create.

Don’t let the fear of ‘what to draw’ stop you from starting.

Inspiration is all around you! Draw your hand, your favourite actor, a mouse riding a beetle – anything goes!

You can do it!

In this post, I’ll take you on a tour of what I sketched in April.

We’ll have fun with continuous line art, meet some celebrity doppelgängers, confirm the existence of the Easter Bunny, accuse Mr Tumnus of theft – and generally have a good time with gouache paint.

Art is the thing. Do the art.

Fishbird Draws
Did you know the Dalai Lama is frightened of caterpillars?
Fishbird Draws
He thrusts his fists against the posts, and still insists he sees the ghosts.
Fishbird Draws
Channel your inner Harold from Neighbours.
Fishbird Draws
A mouse, rabbit and rooster walk into a bar ...
Fishbird Draws
A continuous line Willem Dafoe, don't cha know.
This metal detector isn't worth the broom its based on.
I am an ordinary rabbit. No Easter Bunny here. My name is Percy Easterton. No relation.

Professor Xavier really didn't want to go and do his grocery shop.
Along the river, in grasses wild; the season turns for the Easter child
Will probably take back to Bunnings.
Everyone needs a little Walter Matthau
As Keith rides the train home, he thinks of crosswords and a lasagne he made when he was 13. There wasn't enough cheese, but his mother ate it anyway. Four down, is probably 'bombardment', if he's right about 'aglet'. She didn't even like the lasagne.
Always take a book with you.
Fishbird Draws
Crazy old Poirot.
Some wait more patiently than others.
Mr Tumnus stole my turkish delight. Had my name on it and everything.
As the old saying goes - 'Tight bonnet, fine fowl, can't lose.'
Fishbird Draws
Luxurious frog seat. Only $80. Will take a deposit of flies.
Just a little guy, sniffing some good oxygen on a questionable mushroom. But then ... aren't we all?
Fishbird Draws
The hare was there, but should she care? He could hurry up and wait.
Grey Glen and Sugarbeak Ray. One of them has to do the dishes. Both hate wearing the gloves.
... *sings*... In the jungle, the mighty jungle, lives a cat called Mr Paws ....
Oh boy, who gave him a beer AND an axe? We'll never get to Target at this rate.
Fishbird Draws
I'd walk anywhere with you.
Lest we forget.
Some vitamin sea while we dish the tea.
Uploading to the cloud.
Blessed are the brick-keepers. Ridding the Labyrinth of lipstick marks since Jareth was a babe.
Come home when the street lights turn on.
I'm the prettiest of the bunch.
