QCamel Dairy

The QCamel Dairy is located between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. It is Australia’s premium supplier of camel milk products, run by owners Lauren, Peter and their children Yasmin, MacKinley and Harry. Yasmin also runs a popular Tiktok platform (yasminbrisbane), sharing camel antics and farm videos which have gone viral with millions of views.

QCamel are home to a camelraderie of Dromedary Camels, which are one-hump camels and are native to the Middle East. They’re perfectly suited though to the hot, dry Australian climate.

Camels are emotional and highly intelligent animals, and our new friends at QCamel are treated with respect and considered part of the family. It was stressed on our visit, that QCamel is a working dairy and the care of the animals is paramount. For this reason, the address of the dairy is made available only when you book a tour and isn’t published on their website.

Assemble for camel adventures!

People of all ages are welcomed to the farm for ‘Camel Cuddles’ Farm Tours. Bookings are essential, and can be arranged from the ‘Tours‘ page of the QCamel website.

The staff recognise each camel individually by sight and personality, and every camel has a name that they respond to. Keep an eye out for escapees! One of the camels knows how to open the gates on the farm, and they’re known to make a break for it now and then!

The dairy produces milk, yoghurts, cheese and even handmade premium camel milk chocolates! But don’t pick up any ‘nuggets’ you find on the ground. We can’t vouch for their sweetness.

What are you waiting for? Let’s check it out!

Smile and the world smiles with you!
*ahem* ... Can you open the gate?

Camel Cuddles Farm Tours

‘Camel Cuddles’ Tours are held every Saturday of every month, including School Holidays. Group and ‘special event’ bookings are welcome, with most dietary needs catered to.

We visited the QCamel Dairy on a Saturday in December 2023, with our family. Adult tickets set us back $31.82 each for a 2-hour window of camel festivities. Children under 3 and Companion Card Holders are free if accompanied by a paying Adult or Concession Card Holder.

Check the website for latest prices and any deals on group bookings available.

I thought I heard visitors!

Instructions on how to get to the farm, and what to bring with you, are provided with your booking receipt. You’re asked to arrive 10 minutes before your booking time, and to wear closed-in shoes and to bring a hat.

On arrival, you’ll be shown where to park and given an introductory talk as a welcome. Depending on your group size, you’ll be shown the dairy operations in smaller sessions so everyone gets a chance to see the process.

After the milking, you’ll move into a smaller paddock with a shaded tent area. Morning tea time! Some small gifts are able to be purchased, and camel milk samples are offered.

The camels are soon released into the surrounding field, and will come up to the fence for snacks, pats and photos!

Tips & Tricks From Camelot

Shade tent and morning tea
Do I have something in my teeth?
  • Go to the toilet before you arrive! There are limited toilet facilities on site – practical in a pinch, but not the best place to be on a hot day.

  • Bring a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water with you. Umbrellas are great for extra shade on hot days, and can be kept in your car if needed. There is a shade tent and seating in the central paddock, but you’ll be wanting to get up and interact with the camels out in the sun!

  • On arrival, you’ll be waiting at the gate in a small area with a number of other cars. A staff member will soon arrive to let you in the main gate and direct you up the drive to a dedicated parking area where there’s plenty of space for all.

Dinosaur feet? Probably.
  • You don’t need to madly take 1000 camel photos as soon as you arrive, you’ll get plenty of time up-close with a lot of camels! Plan on taking a selfie with these lovely creatures!

  • Your allotted 2 hour booking with the camels means you can interact with them at your own pace. If you need to leave earlier than expected, let the staff know and they can take you back out the main gate. No other formal information / presentation is given once you’re in the smaller paddock. Staff are there to answer any questions though.

  • Be patient with those in your group. Everyone wants to feed and pat the camels, and see how the dairy works. There’s plenty of time for everyone to enjoy and experience what’s on offer.

Interesting, interesting - so any more of that lettuce?
No, you take it George - you've got longer arms.
Pats, snacks and facts
Goodies on offer
  • Light refreshments are provided, however extra snacks are always good to have on hand if you’re peckish after all the dromedary facts.

  • Let the staff know beforehand if you have elderly or very young people with you, that may not be able to stand for extended periods of time, or require extra assistance. Remember this is a working farm, and you’re out with the camels a lot of the time on their turf.

  • Ask questions! The staff are friendly experts who want to share their love of camels and the work they do. If you’re thinking it, they’ll probably know the answer!
