Welcome to Chateau Royale Beach Resort, located at Cotton Tree, Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast Queensland!
Cotton Tree is a seaside suburb on the banks of the Maroochy River, famous for cotton, trees and relaxing (though not necessarily in that order or perhaps for those things). We promise you’ll love the slow-pace and friendly atmosphere at Cotton Tree – ideal for recharging batteries, human or otherwise (but mostly human).
We always enjoy staying at the Chateau Royale, Cotton Tree – it’s become our go-to coastal holiday spot when we’re chasing some vitamin sea.
Chateau Royale is a quiet paradise where you can relax, read and keep an eye out for megalodon surfing the waves from your ocean-view balcony. There are plenty of cafes and shops within walking distance, and direct beach access is right across the road.
Sunday mornings from 7 – 12am, you can check out the Cotton Tree Markets! Listen to some live music while you browse the craft and food stalls, then head to the beach for a paddle on the shore.
What are you waiting for? Let’s check it out!
Chateau Royale offers self-contained 2 and 3 bedroom holiday apartments and beach houses. Each apartment has a private large balcony, looking out over ocean, river and hinterland views from Mooloolaba to Noosa!
Your room type when booking, will determine what level of the complex you will be on – Pool & Garden View (Levels 1-3), Deluxe View (Levels 4-7) & Superior View (Levels 8-13).
To celebrate my birthday (which inconveniently falls in peak booking times every year!) we booked into a 2-bedroom Superior View Apartment on Level 8.
Being an older building, the holiday apartments at Chateau Royale are some of the most spacious at Maroochydore and on the Sunshine Coast. Apartments tend to be individually owned, so the furniture and aesthetic of each unit tends to differ, however each 2-bedroom apartment will contain the following:
As you enter the apartment, you’ll probably want to run right through it and go and stare at the outside. Look at that gorgeous ocean view! Can you spot ‘whale rock’? We assume it comes alive in the evening, so watch it closely – it’s tricksy!
The balcony is clean and tidy and probably where you’ll spend a large part of your time. I never feel like I soak up the view enough. Take big lung-fulls of sea air and open your eyes as far as they can go. You’ve earned it!
The living room has 2 comfortable couches and 2 side chairs for when you want to sit awkwardly off-centre. If you’re already sick of the view, the smart TV will show you visions of things other than the ocean – for example cricket and Dr Who.
The kitchen and dining areas are spacious and have all you should need to cook and fend for yourself (if you like that sort of thing). We do recommend re-washing the mugs etc before use, as it’s up to the previous tenants to put their dishes away rather than the unit cleaners. The usual tea and coffee provisions are provided – though no hot chocolate sachets *dies a little inside*.
We used the oven to cook a gross pizza on our first night – not sure if it was the oven or my chef skills that kept it raw lol ( ok 95% sure it’s my chef skills). If you’re also not a gourmet cook and can only be bothered to walk 5 minutes from your apartment:
We are return visitors to the Chateau Royale, and will continue to recommend it to our family and friends as a great place to stay at Maroochydore.
We appreciated having the washing machine and dryer off the kitchen, however the washer wouldn’t let go of our clothes and we had to google how to open the door. Hot tip – if a robot tries to steal your pants, unplug it and give the door a swift tap to prompt it to unlock. This happened both times we used it, but on the plus side – we’re now machine whisperers.
There are 2 bathrooms/toilets – so you don’t have to share with your loved one, phew! For those playing along at home, the toilet’s name was Johnson Suisse and the sink was called Fowler Ware. Don’t be rude – introduce yourself!
The master bedroom was comfortable and we had a great night sleep each night. Air con in the living and bedroom areas keeps cool cats even cooler as required. We didn’t make use of the second bedroom, but appreciated that there were extra towels in the room if we needed them.
We also loved all the books, puzzles and DVDs available for use in the cupboards! Enjoyed having a snoop and picking up some interesting reads.
Overall, a wonderful stay. Go and treat yourself to a night or two – the staff are friendly, and the view spectacular!

In our opinion, there is simply nothing better than curling up in your holiday accommodation with too many books.
