Ahh, the Barossa Pavilions in South Australia. Have you been to the Barossa? If not, now is the time to plan a trip! Rolling vineyards, kissed by the sun, where the grapes are too busy admiring the stunning landscape to even think about being wrathful.
Maggie Beer reigns as the unofficial queen of the valley, and insists that you sashay through the doors of her Farm Shop and leave with a bottle of sparkling ruby cabernet in hand and a song in your heart. But mostly, the cabernet.
The Barossa is where nature and luxury flirt shamelessly, and I’m absolutely not mad about it. If you’re thinking of visiting, do yourself a favour and clear your schedule—you might just find yourself staying forever.
Whether you’re spending your days strolling through the vineyards, sampling gourmet delights, or just soaking in the stunning scenery, you’ll need somewhere to rest in the evening.
Look no further than the Barossa Pavilions – a luxury accommodation retreat with 6 self-contained villas to choose from. Each building maximises views over the Barossa Valley Ranges from a private gated 75 acre hillside farm retreat.
Convenient to many of the Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills food, wine and nature attractions – what are you waiting for?!
Stay a while, and let the Barossa serenade you. Let’s check it out!
As you arrive at the property, you’ll see a grey wall with ‘Barossa Pavilions‘ on it. Drive up to the electric gate and enter the code, which would have been emailed to you earlier. The gate will open like magic – or like electricity.
Drive past the dam, turn right and then follow the signage until you reach your Pavilion. The road in, is an unsealed dirt road but well kept and free of potholes. If an eagle gives you a feather, keep it safe. Remember that giants sleep too soundly, that witches are often betrayed by their appetites, that dragons have one soft spot – somewhere – always … hang on, I’ve lapsed into a Neil Gaiman poem. Where were we?
Ah yes, this visit we’re staying in Pavilion Sky One! There’s easy access to your own parking spot by the Pavilion and plenty of space to turn and get in and out. Either by car or as a human.
When you open the door to your Barossa Pavilion, again by key code magic – you’ll likely hear some relaxing music playing. This will either be SBS Chill on the TV or the Barossa breeze strumming some Michael Bublé tunes on the vines in the distance. Probably the TV though.
Perhaps take a moment to hunt for Bublé with the binoculars you’ll find in the entry alcove – just in case. Never mind, I’m sure he’ll show up later. To your left there’s a huge modern bathroom with rainfall shower, washing machine (yay chores!) and toilet.
The living room is to your right (if you can tear yourself out of the bathroom) and wow – look at that view! Trees, birds and space for a potential Bublé – what more could you ask for?!
If you get sick of looking at the view for some unfathomable reason, a comfy 3 seater couch sits in front of the giant TV – with a family of nesting tables, so you don’t need to fight over who gets to put their cuppa on a stable surface. And look – a range of DVDs from yesteryear!
In the kitchen, you’ll find a little two seater table with a tablecloth! Fancy! A bottle of red wine and some tasty chocolates are a sweet welcome surprise – and wait until you see the breakfast provisions!
Along with a basket full of fruit, cereal, biscuits and jams – the fridge is packed with more tasty treats than you can throw a sausage at! Wash it all down with some complimentary Nespresso pods or some hot chocolate to give you energy for exploring.
Put the bacon down for a second and go through the living room to the bedroom. A comfy king sized bed is ready for you to snooze with some views! Complimentary water is provided for when you’ve gasped too much at the beautiful hills.
If that’s STILL not enough water for you, go and sit in the spa! Or if you’re not a ‘spa person’ just sit in the tub and pretend you’re in a safe little space ship. No judgements here!
Outside is a wide veranda looking out over the property. From Pavilion Sky One you can see the top of some of the other Pavilions, but snoops would have their work cut out for them to see into the other units. Privacy achieved!
On the balcony is a Webber BBQ, a small table with two chairs, a chair swing and another little table. Swing gently on the outside rocker and breathe in some good oxygen. Or wine – you do you.
There are blinds on all the windows, so you have the option of closing out the countryside if you want to sleep or if you’re staying here for your birthday and only bought your one suit.
From the moment we entered our magical gate code to the moment we left – we were saying “Wow, wow, wow!”.
Barossa Pavilions Sky One was one of the cleanest and nicest places we’ve stayed in for many many moons – and we’ve stayed at a lot of cottages on a lot of moons.
All the thoughtful extras, combined with the wonderful view and relaxing vibes – really helped to make our stay one to remember.
Even though our visit lined up with a heatwave – over 40 degree days! – the floor-to-ceiling- windows allowed us to enjoy both the air con and the rolling hills without cooking like the rashers of bacon we had for breakfast.
We were able to watch the sunrise from our cosy king sized bed, and visit with the birds who came and sat on the porch swing to get out of the heat for awhile. We put out a little bucket of water for them to cool off in, should they need it.
We really enjoyed our few nights at the Barossa Pavilions and know that you will too. Book your stay right this minute, please and – if you see Maggie Beer or Michael Bublé among the vines – sing them a little thank you song from us.
When we go away, we always take a few books with us so that we’ve got something on hand to read – and then buy more books that we can’t possibly also finish. Yay! 🙂
Some of the books we bought on this leg of the trip included:
