Friends, we’re in the depths of March and still sketching up a storm! Drawing in March has never looked so sketchy!

In this post it all gets a bit wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey as we meet up with no less than four of Gallifrey’s finest, and head off in the TARDIS for an adventure!

Prepare yourselves for a very good story that was professionally penned in a rush and ties all our characters together.

Any errors in tense or plot, are a result of Dalek interference.

Now pick up your sketchbooks, your favourite alien and some snacks for the road, and let’s create some magic together!

* All story arcs and character bios are the property and fever dream of Fishbird Central … except for the Doctor’s obviously created by the BBC. Stay tuned for further adventures as we continue to sketch up a storm in 2025! Let us know which storyline appeals to you the most!

Tired Tyler

Meet Tired Tyler!

Tired Tyler and the Endless Nap:

Tired Tyler was eight years old and had been yawning since birth. Big rattling yawns that spooked the dog and rattled the pictures on the walls.

One afternoon, Tyler wandered over to Jen – his favourite Fishbird Central writer, artist and accidental web designer – rubbing his eyes.

“Jen, I think I’m stuck in a time loop,” he muttered. “Every time I wake up, I feel like I haven’t moved … but the world has.”

Jen frowned, wondering how an eight year old had gotten past her security team.

Before she could respond, a whooshing sound filled the air, and a blue police box materialised right in her driveway!

Butter Dish Doris

Meet Butter Dish Doris!

Butter Dish Doris's Big Discovery:

Out from the TARDIS doors stepped a lady no bigger than a teacup, balancing daintily on the Doctor’s outstretched palm.

“Ah, good, you’re all here!” she chirped. “We have a problem.”

Jen knew she had a problem (spoiler alert, it was Tyler), but was intrigued by the little assertive lady, and had also been meaning to invite the Doctor over for a coffee and a chat.

Butter Dish Doris adjusted the tiny scarf around her head. “Tyler’s naps aren’t normal. Time itself is folding around him.”

Doris pointed at the sky, where a crack could be seen splitting through the clouds.

“Believe it or not, that sky crack wasn’t always there. If we don’t act soon, the past and future will collapse into a singular, very messy moment.”

Jen laughed a bit at ‘sky crack’ but agreed that everyone else should probably do something about it.

Doctor The First

Meet Doctor The First!

The First Doctor Knows Best:

The First Doctor (as he regularly called himself) – grumpy, wise, and impeccably dressed in his very normal green jumper and black dressing gown – stepped forward, leaning on his cane.

“This is what happens when you let a child become a temporal fulcrum,” he huffed. Jen nodded in full agreement.

“Time needs balance! Too much sleep in the wrong place, and reality drifts.” He peered at Tyler. “Boy, you need to stay awake.”

Tyler blinked up at him. “Can’t. Too sleepy.”

The Doctor turned to Jen. “We’ll need reinforcements.”

Jen knew exactly what this meant, and went inside to put the kettle on and get her camera to take a photo of the sky crack.

Doctor The Second

The Second Doctor's Flute of Focus:

With a twirl of his coat, the Second Doctor stepped out of the TARDIS and produced his flute.

Jen realised that the Second Doctor was probably the ‘reinforcements’, and wondered if she had enough mugs for her visitors if they all wanted a coffee. If you gave one Doctor a coffee, did that mean they’d all had one?

“Music sharpens the mind! Keeps you on your toes!” The Second Doctor began to play a bright, bouncy tune, and they all got back to business.

Tyler barely reacted to the tune – only swayed slightly before toppling onto the grass.

“Oh dear,” the Doctor muttered. “We may need something stronger to keep him awake.”

Butter Dish Doris climbed onto Tyler’s shoulder, gently prodding his ear. “I say, young man, how do you feel about adventure?”

Doctor The Third

Meet Doctor The Third!

The Third Doctor and the Battle Stance:

The Third Doctor, ever the action hero, cracked his knuckles, waved at Jen and simultaneously indicated he’d love a coffee thanks.

“This is clearly a case for mental discipline. I’ll teach Tyler Venusian Aikido. It’s all about balance.”

He knelt beside Tyler and attempted to position his tiny human arms into a proper stance.

Tyler, still half-asleep, flopped forward.

The Third Doctor sighed. “This boy seems unable to immediately learn a battle stance under a sky crack. Fine. But we’re running out of time … quite literally.”

Jen handed the Third Doctor a coffee, and wondered how high he could kick if he really had to. She’d ask him later.

Doctor The Fourth

Meet Doctor The Fourth!

The Fourth Doctor's Scarf of Solutions:

The Fourth Doctor, who was also there, grinning beneath his mass of curls – crouched beside Tyler and unraveled his scarf.

“Here’s an idea … what if we tethered him to the present? Quite literally!”

The Doctor looped his scarf around Tyler’s wrist and tied the other end to a lamppost.

Tyler stared at it, confused. “What’s this supposed to do?”

“Symbolism, my dear boy! And also, it’s very difficult to float away through time while firmly attached to a fixed point.”

Some jelly babies dropped onto the grass, but nobody picked them up.

Jen wondered how her body-corporate would feel about an eight year old tied to a communal lamp post, but agreed that might be a problem for later.

Japers McFlip

Jennifer Saves the Day:

Jen watched as all four Doctors, a tiny alien lady, and a perpetually exhausted child struggled to stop time from unraveling outside her townhouse.

Nobody had even asked her if she was busy. It was a Thursday morning, and she didn’t know if she could use her flex credit to stop work and stare at a sky crack. Maybe the Doctor might be able to write her a note.

She took a deep breath, then pulled out the one thing she knew could hold Tyler’s focus – a small T-Rex she always kept in her pocket.

“Tyler,” she said softly, “what if I gave you this plastic dinosaur and you just went away? It’s a really good one?”

His heavy eyelids twitched, fighting against the lure of sleep. “A… dinosaur?” he mumbled.

The crack in the sky flickered.

Jen began playing with the dinosaur – making it walk on the grass and do cool things. All four Doctors loved it.

As Tyler watched, time slowly stitched itself back together for some reason. Butter Dish Doris beamed, and all the Doctors signed up to Jen’s Substack Newsletter, nodding approvingly at the free weekly content.

And with that, the universe was saved. Not with a fight, not with science, but with the oldest magic of all … dinosaur.
