Lets sketch each day in February 2025!

The best thing about sketching and making art, is creating characters – oddballs, outcasts, and adventurers with a knack for getting tangled up in the unexpected.

In this post we introduce our latest batch of misfits: Flashfoot C. Arrot, the fastest tail on the East Coast, racing toward his final showdown; Audrey Rosethorn, a florist with a flair for mystery-solving; Leaperson Boggle, the tiniest frog on a mission to return a lost corn kernel and more!

Whether cracking cases, chasing dreams, or just trying to survive their latest predicament, these characters prove that life is never boring when a little chaos is involved.

Let’s start this sketchy adventure!

Flashfoot C. Arrot

Who did we sketch?:

Meet Flashfoot C. Arrot!

Character Bio:

Flashfoot C. Arrot – legend of the racetrack, master of the quick turn, and the fastest tail on the East Coast.

Flashfoot is gearing up for the final race of his career. With a streak of victories as long as a carrot patch and a fan club that stretches from burrow to burrow, Flashfoot has nothing left to prove… or so they say.

But deep down, he knows this last race isn’t just about speed—it’s about legacy.

His longtime rival, Jetpaw Jack, is younger, cockier, and hungry for the title.

Can Flashfoot summon the lightning one last time, or will this be the day the torch passes to the next generation?

Either way, when the dust settles, Flashfoot C. Arrot will make sure they remember his name.

Audrey Rosethorn

sniffing lady - sketch each day
Who did we sketch?:

Meet Audrey Rosethorn!

Character Bio:

Audrey Rosethorn has always believed that flowers can say more than words – especially the delicate blue and pink roses she cultivates in her little shop on Perfume Street.

But when her neighbour, Bootsey Malone, is found dead in her own shoe shop, Audrey’s world is suddenly anything but rosy.

The police are baffled, the town is buzzing, and for some reason, all signs point to Audrey having the answers.

With her keen eye for detail, no formal training and a nose for the truth, Audrey must unravel the mystery before the killer decides to prune her out of the picture.

This time it’s petalsonal.

Leaperson Boggle

Who did we sketch?:

Meet Leaperson Boggle!

Character Bio:

Leaperson Boggle may be the smallest frog in the pond, but his heart is as big as the wide blue sky.

When he spots a lovely lorikeet accidentally drop a single, gleaming corn kernel, he knows what he must do – return it, no matter the odds!

Through towering grass jungles, across treacherous puddles, and past a rather snooty stick insect toll collector called Graham, Leaperson hops onward, determined to complete his noble quest.

But when he finally catches up to the lorikeet, he discovers the kernel may hold more significance than he ever imagined.

Could this tiny act of kindness lead to the grandest adventure of all?

Brenda Bookersley

read each day sketch
Who did we sketch?:

Meet Brenda Bookersley!

Character Bio:

Brenda Bookersley wants nothing more than a quiet afternoon with her latest read, a mysterious old novel she found tucked away in the darkest corner of her local bookshop.

But there’s a problem … the book does not want to be read.

Whenever Brenda tries to read a new chapter something strange happens. The wind howls through her window, whipping the pages out of her grasp. Tea she brews turns to ink the moment she takes a sip. Seagulls steal all her hot chips and she has to spend her lunch hour chasing them down.

Brenda is nothing if not persistent, but as she edges closer to the final chapter, even stranger things begin happening around her.

Shadows move where they shouldn’t, whispers curl from the margins, and the air hums with an ancient energy.

What will happen if she ever reaches the last page? And more importantly – does she really want to find out?

Alan Toastardis

Who did we sketch?:

Meet Alan Toastardis!

Character Bio:

Alan Toastardis has had enough.

After years of mindlessly toasting bread, crumpets, and the occasional rogue English muffin, something inside him – perhaps a loose wire, perhaps destiny – has clicked.

He’s grown arms, gained sentience, and now, adventure calls!

But where does a newly awakened toaster go in a city like Brisbane?

Determined to find his purpose beyond breakfast, Alan sets off into the world, hoping to whistle up a fellow free-spirited appliance. Maybe a kettle with dreams of opera? A microwave with a taste for rebellion?

As he rolls down Adelaide Street, dodging curious pedestrians and rogue e-scooters, one thing is certain – an eclectic electric on the loose is bound to be the toast of the town!

One-Eye McClaws and Cathy

cat and friend
Who did we sketch?:

Meet One-Eye McClaws and Cathy!

Character Bio:

One-Eye McClaws was no ordinary cat. Tough as old boots, with a single piercing green eye and a reputation for ruling the neighbourhood.

But when an electrical storm crackles through the night, something downright peculiar happens – McClaws and his owner, Cathy, swap bodies!

Now, Cathy finds herself with a tail she can’t control, an insatiable urge to nap in sunbeams, and an overwhelming desire to knock things off tables.

Meanwhile, McClaws – trapped in Cathy’s body – struggles with shoes, doorknobs, and the horrifying realisation that humans don’t get to sleep for 16 hours a day.

Over a can of tuna, they sit and weigh their options. Can they undo the switch?

Or is Cathy doomed to a life of alleyway duels while McClaws begrudgingly learns how to be a Government employee?

Swiss Swipers

cheese hijinks
Who did we sketch?:

Meet the Swiss Swipers!

Character Bio:

The Swiss Swipers – two slick-furred cats and one particularly round mouse – were once big players in the Cheese Corporation, until a little ‘incident’ saw them booted from the operation.

But old habits die hard, and the trio isn’t about to let a little corporate exile keep them from the cheese prize.

With a half-baked plan, a pilfered blueprint, and a deep love of stinky Swiss chunks, they’re making their move.

Will they be caught? Of course. Will they escape? Highly likely.

But for the Swiss Swipers, it’s not about the heist – it’s about the cheese, the thrill, and the inevitable chase that follows.
